For students looking to have fun, stay fit and try new activities, our weekly ECA recreational sports programme (shown below) offers a supportive, inclusive environment. Whether through social games, skill-building sessions or casual play, students develop confidence, teamwork and a lifelong appreciation for movement.
Competitive Sports
For those eager to challenge themselves and represent DBIS, students can engage with our competitive sports programme, which provides structured training, coaching and participation in leagues and tournaments. Athletes refine their skills, build resilience and experience the thrill of teamwork and competition.

Yoga
Stretch and pose! Join us for Yoga Club every Friday morning as we develop confidence, flexibility and strength. We will be introducing basic yoga poses through games and fun activities. Yoga is for everyone, so come and explore the mat with us.

The ECA promotes Balanced Individuals by focusing on the development of physical strength, flexibility, and mental well-being through mindful movement. By exploring basic poses in a supportive group setting, students also become Confident Communicators as they gain the self-assurance to explore the mat and express themselves through active play.
Multi-Sports
In this ECA children will have the opportunity to participate and explore different mini games and develop ball skills. Through different activities children will enhance their gross motor skills, coordination, balance and agility. As well as improving physical skills they will also be encouraged to cooperate with friends and work as a team. Multi Sports will allow children to explore through play to develop their skills, confidence and love of sports.

Football
This ECA provides students with a fun and supportive opportunity to explore football, led by professional coaches. Sessions focus on basic skills like kicking, passing, moving, and working together with friends. Through simple games and activities, children will build confidence, coordination, and enjoy being active in a positive environment. The main goal is to have fun while learning the basics of football.

Multi-Sports
Years 1 & 2
This ECA gives children the opportunity to explore a range of fun mini-games and sporting activities in an active, supportive environment. Through play-based sessions, students will develop ball skills, coordination, balance, agility, and overall gross motor skills. The focus is on participation, confidence, enjoyment, and helping children build a positive early connection with sport.

Taekwondo (Martial Arts)
Years 1–2
This ECA introduces students to martial arts in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. Open to all experience levels, students will develop fundamental techniques, movement skills, self-discipline, focus, agility, strength, and confidence. Sessions will emphasise respect, self-control, perseverance, and safe practice while helping students build skills that support them both inside and outside the dojo.

Yoga and Mindfulness
Years 1–2
This ECA offers a fun, calm, and supportive space for Year 1–2 children to explore gentle movement, breathing techniques, relaxation, and mindfulness. Each session includes simple yoga poses, games, storytelling, guided visualisations, and breathing exercises to help students develop balance, coordination, body awareness, focus, and emotional understanding. The emphasis is on wellbeing, confidence, and helping children learn simple strategies to calm their minds and bodies.

Rope Skipping
Years 4–6
This ECA provides students with a fun, high-energy opportunity to improve fitness, coordination, agility, rhythm, and confidence through rope skipping. Students will learn and practise a range of skills and tricks, from basic jumps and crossovers to more advanced combinations such as double unders. Sessions will focus on participation, personal progress, stamina, and enjoyment in a supportive environment.

Years 3–12
This ECA provides an opportunity for students to develop their football skills in a structured, enjoyable, and supportive environment led by Professional Coaches. Sessions will focus on skill development, small-sided matches, teamwork, fitness, and core techniques such as passing, movement, decision-making, and communication on the field. The emphasis remains on participation and enjoyment, while offering students a higher-quality coaching experience and the opportunity to improve through regular, purposeful gameplay.

Years 4–13
This ECA provides students with the opportunity to develop their badminton skills in a supportive, active, and enjoyable environment. Open to a range of experience levels, sessions will focus on key skills such as serving, rallying, footwork, shot selection, positioning, and game play. Students will be encouraged to improve their technique, build confidence, and develop a greater enjoyment of the sport.

Running Club
Years 4–13
This ECA gives students the opportunity to build fitness, confidence, and enjoyment through running in a supportive and encouraging environment. Sessions may include group runs, short sprints, longer-distance challenges, pacing activities, and fun races, with options for different levels of experience and ability. Students will be encouraged to set personal goals, celebrate progress, and enjoy the benefits of staying active.

Table Tennis
Years 5–13
This ECA provides students with the opportunity to enjoy table tennis in a fun, active, and relaxed environment. Sessions will focus on play, participation, friendly competition, and developing basic skills such as serving, rallying, movement, and shot selection. Open to a range of experience levels, the ECA encourages students to stay active, challenge themselves, and enjoy connecting with others through the game.

Water Polo
Years 7–9
This ECA introduces students to the fast-paced, team-oriented sport of water polo in a fun, active, and supportive environment. Participants will develop swimming fitness, ball-handling skills, passing, shooting, movement, and tactical understanding while building strength, endurance, and coordination in the water. Sessions encourage participation, teamwork, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.

This ECA gives students the opportunity to enjoy active, team-based sports in a fun beach environment. Through activities such as frisbee and volleyball, students will develop throwing, catching, movement, striking, and game-play skills while improving fitness and confidence. Open to all ability levels, the sessions focus on participation, teamwork, healthy competition, and enjoyment in the outdoors.

This ECA focuses on building students’ overall fitness, strength and athletic performance through structured training sessions. Students will develop fundamental movement skills, improve strength and conditioning, and learn techniques to enhance speed, agility, and endurance.

This ECA offers secondary students an introduction to Chinese Martial Arts, including: Lion dance, Chinese drumming, Tai Chi, and Tai Chi sword. Through this ECA, students also have the chance to perform in the annual whole school CNY performance.
