The Hong Kong Award for Young People (HKAYP) is an exciting, structured programme designed to inspire personal growth, resilience and community engagement.
Modelled after the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the HKAYP challenges students to step beyond their comfort zones through four key areas: Skills Development, Physical Recreation, Volunteer Service and the Adventurous Journey.
Students progress through bronze, silver and gold levels, gradually increasing the depth and challenge of their experiences. Along the way, they develop independence, perseverance and a commitment to making a positive impact.
At DBIS, the HKAYP programme goes beyond a simple extracurricular activity – it’s an immersive, hands-on learning journey that shapes students into well-rounded, globally minded individuals, ready to take on the world.
Skills Development empowers students to explore new interests and hone valuable life skills – whether it's mastering a musical instrument, learning to code or refining their culinary expertise.
Physical Recreation encourages an active lifestyle, with students taking on sports, fitness challenges or personal wellness goals.
Volunteer Service is at the heart of HKAYP, fostering a sense of social responsibility. Students engage in meaningful community projects, from environmental conservation to mentoring younger peers or leading charitable initiatives.
The Adventurous Journey is where the real adventure begins! Students plan and embark on outdoor expeditions, tackling challenges like hiking, camping, and wilderness exploration. These experiences cultivate teamwork, problem-solving and leadership skills.
