Hammerhead and FOBISIA Team Training Sessions
Hammerhead and FOBISIA Training Sessions at DBIS provide targeted, sport-specific training for students selected to represent the school in local and international competitions. These sessions are designed to further develop students’ technical skills, tactical understanding, fitness, teamwork, and confidence in preparation for competitive fixtures and tournaments.
Training may be led by experienced and qualified DBIS staff or, where appropriate, by professional external coaches with specialist expertise in a particular sport. This ensures students receive high-quality coaching that supports both individual development and team performance.
These sessions are especially important for students preparing to travel and compete in FOBISIA competitions, where they will represent DBIS against other international schools. Training opportunities may include, but are not limited to, football, netball, basketball, and athletics. Through regular participation, students are expected to show commitment, effort, and a positive attitude as they work towards achieving their personal best and contributing to the success of their team.
Strive Fitness
Strive Fitness Sessions are designed for High School students aged 15 and above who are ready to take the next step in their athletic development. These sessions are targeted towards experienced and committed sportspeople, including students involved in competitive sport who are seeking to improve their strength, conditioning, performance, and overall physical preparation.
The programme provides students with structured opportunities to develop their understanding of weight training, including safe and effective lifting technique, progressive overload, injury prevention, recovery, and sport-specific conditioning. Students will also explore key principles of nutrition, mobility, recovery, and personal performance habits, helping them make informed choices that support their goals both in and beyond school sport.
Led by qualified and experienced staff, Strive Fitness Sessions are intended for students who already demonstrate a strong commitment to sport and are motivated to challenge themselves further. Through regular participation, students will develop greater physical confidence, resilience, discipline, and the knowledge required to train effectively, responsibly, and with purpose.
Swim Squads
Swim Squads are designed for committed swimmers who are ready to further develop their technique, fitness, and race performance in a structured training environment. These sessions support students who are looking to improve their swimming ability, build endurance, and represent DBIS in local and international competitions.
Training will focus on stroke development, starts, turns, finishes, race skills, pacing, stamina, and overall water confidence. Students will also develop important habits linked to commitment, resilience, self-discipline, and personal improvement.
Swim Squad sessions may be led by experienced DBIS staff and/or qualified specialist swim coaches. Through regular participation, swimmers will be supported to progress towards their individual goals while also contributing to the wider success of the DBIS swim programme.
Primary Gymnastics
Primary Gymnastics is designed for experienced and committed gymnasts who are working towards representing DBIS at the FOBISIA Gymnastics Competition. This programme is intended for students who already demonstrate a strong foundation in gymnastics and are ready to further develop their technique, strength, flexibility, confidence, and performance skills.
Sessions are led by specialist coaches from iGym, who provide high-quality, targeted coaching to support students in refining their routines and preparing for competition. Training will focus on the development of key gymnastics skills, body control, conditioning, presentation, and competition readiness.
As this programme is aimed at students intending to compete, participants are expected to show commitment, focus, and a positive attitude throughout the training process. Regular attendance and consistent effort will be important in helping gymnasts prepare effectively for the demands of the FOBISIA Gymnastics Competition.
