Outdoor Education at Discovery Bay International School (DBIS) is a deliberately designed, progressive programme embedded across the whole school. In EYFS and Primary, outdoor learning is integrated within curriculum time through weekly Forest School sessions and Beach School experiences, nurturing curiosity, confidence and a deep connection to the natural environment.
In the Secondary School, Outdoor Education develops through a structured pathway that includes the Hong Kong Award for Young People (HKAYP) and explicit outdoor and adventurous learning experiences embedded within the ECA curriculum. These experiences are intentionally scaffolded to build independence, resilience, leadership, teamwork and environmental stewardship.
Across all age groups, Outdoor Education at DBIS is underpinned by strong safeguarding practices, purposeful partnerships and a commitment to experiential learning that challenges students appropriately, supports wellbeing and empowers learners to grow beyond the classroom.
